The Emergency Communications District (ECD) supplies and maintains hardware and software needed for the successful operation of the Emergency Communications Center (ECC) as well as maintains addressing and mapping databases for Sumner County. The Sumner County Emergency Communications Center is the primary answering point for all 9‐1‐1 emergency calls in Sumner County and is responsible for the dispatching of police, fire, and EMS field responders.
The system administrator will perform professional information technology work installing, configuring, and maintaining critical systems and applications for computer-aided dispatch (CAD) and voice recording systems utilized by the Sumner County Emergency Communications Center; maintain and repair routine issues with hardware and software;
troubleshoot, install, and repair user issues, desktop hardware and software, and network infrastructure, including components, switches, routers, and servers. Administer firewalls and internal network security, and maintain existing anti‐spam and antivirus systems. The system administrator will ensure that the underlying infrastructure platforms
provide industry-leading stability, reliability, high performance, and security.
The system administrator will work with both ECC and ECD directors to ensure all network and infrastructure development, design, implementation, capacity, planning, and decisions are met for the 9‐1‐1 system in Sumner County.
$70,000 ‐ $80,000 DOQ plus Sumner County Government benefits including paid holidays, sick, and vacation leave, and TCRS state retirement. Benefits also include a competitive medical insurance package and access to health clinics at no additional charge.

Works under the general direction of the Chief of Police to plan, organize, direct, and manage the E-911 Communication Center’s operations. Formulates short and long-range plans, goals, and objectives for the center. Identifies and implements changes to maximize use of resources, and to achieve the goals and objectives of the department. Develops and implements its operational budget, including establishing priorities for capital and material requirements. Implements and develops policies, procedures, and standards. Manages the E-911 financial resources. Oversees employee work schedules to ensure adequate coverage and control. Keeps top management abreast of 911 situations, major incidents, and other public safety issues that occur in the city. Hires personnel, assigns duties, develops training programs, evaluates performance, and takes disciplinary action as needed. Reviews time records and approves/processes employee concerns. Completes employee performance appraisals. Acts as a liaison between employees and management and trains staff in operations, policies, and procedures. Develops, plans, and directs operational programs, service improvement plans, resources, and staff. Directs the implementation of programs and services through subordinate supervisors and staff. Assesses department effectiveness and performance. Manages quality assurance and quality improvement initiatives. Serves as a member of varying task forces, committees, and planning teams, by representing the department to other county, state, and federal agencies. Coordinates with public safety agencies, or other officials to review and enhance operations/activities. Reviews/resolves problems, receives advice/direction, and makes recommendations for improvements. Monitors expenditures to ensure compliance with approved budget. Reviews and approves payroll, bills, invoices, purchase orders, contracts, and other financial documents. Plans for and manages the use of department equipment, communication systems, and facilities. Ensures proper maintenance and repair of communications equipment, radios, and systems. Assigns and oversees research of vendor pricing, coordinates with contractors, vendors, and suppliers regarding the procurement of new equipment, services, and supplies. Works with vendors regarding wireless services and planning for future department technology needs. Researches problems and initiates problem resolution. Responds to questions or complaints related to communications activities. Travels to and attends various meetings across the City. Presents proposals and recommendations regarding department services and needs. Prepares and/or reviews operational and statistical reports.

it's a full-time position and the salary runs from $43,816.00 up to $47,022.00 with five years of experience. Currently, work 5/8 hours shifts, however, am planning to implement 10-hour shifts with 3 days off in the very near future.

Rhea County 911 is accepting applications from qualified individuals interested in a career as a 911 Telecommunicator.
Preliminary testing will be conducted to judge skills in typing, data entry, reading and listening comprehension, situational judgment, critical thinking, and map reading. Applicants must pass all preliminary testing in order to proceed to the next phase of the hiring process.
After basic training, Telecommunicators will earn a salary of $16.27 per hour, which increases to $17.41 after basic training. The position does include health insurance, benefits package, and retirement.

Sumner County Emergency Communication Center is currently accepting applications for 911 Public Safety Telecommunicators and Call-takers. Candidates must possess a valid Tennessee Driver’s License, be able to type 3000 keystroke per hour (net) and possess either a GED or a high school diploma. The process consists of an oral interview, extensive background investigation, psychological and job-related physical examinations and drug testing.
Salary for entry level Call-takers beginning at $17.00 $19.37 per hour and increasing to Telecommunicator pay $18.60, upon successfully completion of training and promotion to Telecommunicator. There are opportunities for periodic pay increases, as well as great benefits (medical, vision, and dental). Our standard shifts are 12-hour shifts, 2 days on and 2 days off, 3 days on 3 days off.
